Introducing Kahkashan-e-Sharq Institute of Higher Education/KSU

 

Kahkashan-e-Sharq Institute of Higher Education has been operating since 2013 with three faculties, during which it has been able to provide valuable services in the field of education, research and science.

Kahkashan-e-Sharq Institute of Higher Education has paid deep attention to the growth and development of science and technology and a deep understanding of the educational situation at the national and international levels, and has decided to formulate its five-year strategic plan. Based on this plan, we have now identified our strengths and weaknesses as a whole. We have identified the existing and the future opportunities well, analyzed and evaluated challenges. Therefore, we have drawn up a regular and precise plan in order to be faithful to our commitments to the nation, the government and the academic community home and abroad, and to follow the line of excellence of growth and development.

The founders and shareholders of Kahkashan-e-Sharq Institute of Higher Education/KSU, due to the urgent need of the society to acquire knowledge and higher education in 2012, established this scientific and specialized institution in consultation with the scientific and expert staff of the society and its human and religious responsibility to society , and based on the same commitment are determined to continue this way and are committed to creating more opportunities for the growth and excellence of science in the country.

Kahkashan-e-Sharq Institute of Higher Education/KSU has been established with three faculties within which there are six majors. During this period, KSU has been able to present a large number of young people in the western region to the community with a bachelor’s degree. KSU is of high reputation among the private universities in Herat, Afghanistan.

The present strategic plan includes all our obligations to the nation and the government which will enable us to implement all our specialized and scientific programs that have been predicted, competing throughout Afghanistan and in the neighboring countries, to bring us/KSU to the top of the table to help us get close in achieving our first high and valuable goal, that is creating professional and scientific staff and an atmosphere of healthy competition among other educational institutes.

Vision

Kahkashan-e-Sharq Institute of Higher Education or KSU intends to provide staff through teaching, research and service delivery, train a professional and committed team and have a worthy place in Afghanistan’s higher education.

Mission

Kahkashan-e-Sharq Institute of Higher Education has an active share in improving the scientific and academic capacity of the society by providing scientific-research services in compliance with the accepted national and regional standards.

Preface

We are pleased that we have been able to prepare a five-year strategic plan for Kahkashan-e-Sharq Institute of Higher Education based on which we will take firm and fundamental steps in the production of science and knowledge in the future, providing education for scholars and future generations. This strategy, in fact, represents the method and approach of Kahkashan-e-Sharq Institute of Higher Education/KSU, and in the light of that, the leadership and scientific staff of KSU will take firm steps in the development of knowledge and science.

The present strategic plan has been prepared and compiled based on the basic criteria, according to which the programs of KSU are carried out in the form of rules and regulations of quality assurance and improvement of teaching of scientific and academic activities.

Moreover, this plan has been prepared based on comprehensive surveys at the community and institute level, the criteria and methods have been implemented and designed based on SWOT analysis. Relying on SWOT analysis, we carefully examined the weaknesses, strengths, opportunities and challenges KSU faces. We did this by combining past, present and future surveys and figures, and in the light of the figures and the results, we prepared the current five-year strategic plan.

KSU is proud that by focusing on the prosperity of science and knowledge and the growth of standard higher education in the country, it has been able to overcome each step and obstacles to achieve major strategic goals and take firm and reliable steps to achieve to the above purposes

Kahkashan-e-Sharq Institute of Higher Education/KSU has considered a number of values for advancing its activities, the most important of which are the following:

Management and leadership

All institutions that have independence and financial capacity, good administration, sustainability and strong commitment; Their first issue is a strong and healthy leadership free from any kind of corruption. Kahkashan-e-Sharq Institute of Higher Education has been proud of its healthy and committed leadership since its inception, and the selection of competent and healthy leaders has always been considered the institution’s red line.

High-demand goals and objectives

Leadership and administration of a pluralistic and coordinated system of higher education, including public and private universities, institutes and colleges;

  • Responding to the educational needs and wants of individuals through the development of their intellectual abilities in life
  • Meeting the development needs of society and providing a workforce equipped with the required knowledge and expertise, taking into account the competencies and expertise necessary for the growth and development of an advanced economy and achieving this goal;
  • Improving the quality of higher education institutions in accordance with international standards as long-term criteria;
  • Increase access to higher education through the design of a high quality higher education system with respect to educational laws, this can include open higher education, distance learning, shift classes, and summer and night programs.
  • Establish a system of accreditation and quality assurance in order to ensure the quality of the institution and its programs;
  • Provide and facilitate research capacity to advance knowledge and conduct research activities in line with technological advancement and social development;
  • Provide financial resources in a sustainable and equal manner in order to ensure the quality of higher education through joint costs or expenses. To achieve this goal, the Ministry of Higher

Education seeks to pave the way for higher education institutions by making changes to higher education policy, so that they can establish foundations from a variety of institutions, including the government and businesses. If possible, obtain funding from students, donors, enterprises, products and other resources.

  • Legalize the principle of independence of higher education institutions, so that these institutions have the ability to create resources and expand it and can manage their academic institutions in a desirable way. This independence applies to the government, students and other relevant institutions in the field of accountability.

Goals and objectives at the institution level/KSU level

  1. Modernization and promotion of institutions at a level where segregation and clarity are revealed in management plans and the department operates in a cooperative and coordinated manner;
  2. Provide relevant and quality academic programs that meet national and regional needs and have the ability to compete internationally;
  3. Designing a comprehensive system for promotion as well as encouragement based on the principle of meritocracy and accurate evaluation of the activities of the faculty members of universities, including the evaluation of teaching, research and provision of scientific services by them through group evaluation;
  4. Creating an academic atmosphere in which discussion and exchange, critical questioning and constructive criticism are common and accepted criteria;
  5. Educating students as enlightened, responsible and critical citizens, with the necessary capacity and ideas based on social commitment, tolerance and mutual respect;
  6. Improving the quality of teaching and learning and ensuring that education meets the needs of education in national and regional contexts;
  7. The growth of academic staff and administrative staff of higher education through the provision of higher educational opportunities, short courses, reciprocal visits and the creation of a culture of continuous learning;
  8. Development of research culture in the country’s universities to conduct purposeful and relevant research, to identify and find solutions to the many problems and challenges that the country is facing;
  9. Establishing cooperation between domestic, regional and international higher education institutions;
  10. Having social responsibility through interaction and development of expertise and creating the necessary infrastructure for higher education institutions to serve the country.
